Specialists and colleagues of the medical community of the country, considering the importance and prevalence of osteoporosis in our dear country, have established an association whose main goal is to increase public awareness about this disease and support patients with osteoporosis. The Iranian Osteoporosis Association was established in late 2002 and has been approved by the Ministry of Interior. This association is a member of the International Osteoporosis Federation and has worked closely with the federation over the years. The main center of the association is in Tehran and provincial centers are being established in other provinces. According to the statute, the Iranian Osteoporosis Association is defined as non-political and non-profit. The association has a founding board, board of directors, general assembly, managing director and inspector and its secretariat is located in the Endocrine and Metabolism Research Center of Tehran University of Medical Sciences.
